This peppermint and calendula infusion relieves premenstrual tension and period pains. Peppermint reduces tension and relaxes the mind. Vervain and motherwort are used to control menstrual irregularities, relax the nervous system, and to ease tension and pain. Calendula supports the other herbs in nurturing the womb, and roses have a healing effect.
- 1 tsp peppermint leaves,
- 1 tsp calendula flowers,
- 1 tsp motherwort,
- 1 tsp vervain,
- rose petal syrup to sweeten.
Makes 4 servings
Place all the herbs into a large teapot. Pour over 1 pint (600ml) of boiling water. Leave to infuse for 20 minutes, then strain the liquid through a tea strainer into a clean jug.
Drink 1 cup 2–3 times daily, either hot or at room temperature.
NOTE: Don’t use this tea if pregnant.
