This simple calendula and oat body scrub gently cleanses, enriches, and soothes the skin. Oats are traditionally used for their skin soothing properties, and they provide a nurturing wash for dry skin; they contain high levels of natural polysaccharides, which become gelatinous in water. In this recipe, they are combined with exfoliating bran and soothing calendula, which cleanse and smooth the skin.
- 11⁄2oz (45g) oats,
- 3⁄4oz (20g) bran,
- 1⁄2oz (15g) calendula flowers.
Makes enough for 1 treatment
- Put the oats, bran, and flowers in a muslin or cheesecloth bag, tie firmly at the top with string, and use the ends of the string to hang it from the tap so the bath water runs through it.
- When you are in the bath, rub your skin with the bag, especially on any patches of dry skin.
