Chat masala is used in small quantities with fruit and vegetable salads. It has a fresh, sourish taste.
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp black peppercorns
- 1⁄2 tsp ajowan seeds
- 1 tsp anardana
- 1 tsp black salt (see left)
- 1 tsp coarse sea salt
- 1 tbsp amchoor
- 1⁄4 tsp asafetida
- 1⁄2 tsp crushed dried mint leaves
- 1⁄2 tsp ground hot chili powder
Directions: grind all the whole spices and salts to a powder, then stir in the remaining ingredients. Store in an airtight container or in a plastic bag in the freezer for two months.
